Allure

Commission for the Seattle neighborhood of South Park, with partner Diane Hansen, the “South Park Identifier” is a giant angler fish made of a pipe steel frame adorned with a variety of black-smithed steel pieces and laser cut shapes inspired by this diverse and scrappy neighborhood. Won through a public art competition through the city of Seattle and King County, we led many community conversations about this piece and what it could do for the community before the design was solidified. It was a gift from the county to the neighborhood, as the bridge project at 14th Street took longer than expected, and the artwork reuses the cast glass lanterns from the old bridge as a lantern at the top of the angler’s head.
