Eastlake Green Street Furnishings

In 1999, Jennifer won a design competition for a public art project in the Eastlake neighborhood of Seattle, WA.  The ‘Green Street’ project’s commission was $20,000, for the design and fabrication of six benches and a chess table.  Jennifer used blacksmithing techniques for the benches, making one of them a two-sided “sweetheart” style bench.  The concept for these pieces was to integrate the pathways of children from the neighboring elementary school with the path of the young adults who frequent the walking street.  The two chess tables were produced from stainless steel and concrete, and have subsequently encouraged the school to form a chess club.
