Hunt Middle School Dome

In 2024, Hunt Middle School’s domed cafetorium—affectionately known as the “Mothership”—was reimagined following the relocation of the school's choir and band programs to the new main building. Weddermann Architecture partnered with Tacoma Public Schools to transform the underutilized space into a flexible, community-centered resource. The renovation revitalized the existing building shell, improved accessibility, and created adaptable spaces for school and neighborhood uses. The historic structure now serves as a vibrant, multi-purpose gathering space that supports connection, collaboration, and community engagement.
